This is an extraordinary collection of the writings of Alexander Hamilton, a founding father who was often misunderstood. Who till this very day has a reputation which few truly understand.

Yet, within this wonderful collection of both political, and private, correspondence, a man emerges like none written of in the history books.

We see him as a young man, not yet 20. With so much aspiration for the future! We see him during the revolution, both as a man, and as someone dreading the next battle to come. We see him as a man who grieves over loss, and celebrates over life's little victories.

A truly remarkable gathering of Hamilton's private, intimate writings helps us to see beyond the politico, and into the heart of just a man like so many others.

If you love history, you will truly enjoy this book. Tucker did a fabulous job of gathering Hamilton's papers. A big salute to you, sir!

You can find the book here  it is $13.51 for the hardcover, plus shipping and handling, and $12.99 for the Kindle version.

I give it five stars,

a big thumbs up,

and my personal recommendation.

In this brave, fierce, shattered, devastated tale of uncertainty, Silver takes us on a roller coaster ride! One moment up, the next down. One moment determined. the next full of uncertainty. But always with hope that there will be a tomorrow.

Silver will touch you like no other author ever has. You will find moments of smiling. And others where you will need tissues for the tears.

Silver touches us, in this unforgettable story of medical uncertainty. Her baby girl has a brain bleed. And what comes from that knowledge is enough to drive any mother over the edge.

Silver finds a way to rise above all of the pain and uncertainty. And she shares with you this very personal, very real story. An intimacy is there, like a best friend.

You won't be the same after reading this.

Just try to read it over several days. You can't. you will sit down with it, and you won't stop turning the pages until you are done. Because, like a good friend, you will be there to the very end. Your heart breaking. Your eyes tearing. Your emotions taxed.

Ordinary People Who Faced Daunting Medical Challenges and Refused to Give Up
by
Susannah Meadows
Copyright © 2017 by Susannah Meadows
Random House, NY
ISBN: 9780812996470

This book covers a wide array of people with various and sundry illnesses. Some life threatening. Others daunting and grim. Still others, only mild conditions. But the author takes us through each individual's story, and lets see how grim that individual feels. How they have practically given up, when suddenly, that human spirit that we see so little of, you know the one, the one that says, I will not give up! I will not be a victim! I will be a victor! comes slowly to the surface.

Each case the individual is overwhelmed. And each case the person finds that fight within themselves to become a victor over illness. A willingness to take charge of the illness, and not be taken charge of!

They are often scoffed at by the very physicians and nurses they trusted to take care of them! Some even by their families and friends! But each one, determined to find the way back to a health. A normalcy of their former selves.

What wonderful  insight each has in believing they KNOW what is best for their bodies and take charge! I found the work completely refreshing and energizing!

I give the work five stars,

a big thumbs up,

and I recommend it.

You can purchase this book here the hardcover costing $17.38 plus shipping and handling, while the Kindle version is $13.99.

Holly Fitzgerald

Copyright © 2017 by Margaret A. FitzGerald
ISBN: 978-0-525-432777
Paperback

Holly FitzGerald and her husband, Fitz, set out on a honeymoon anyone would envy. they were set to see the world! They were to spend a year long adventure together! So romantic. Right?

But five months into their honeymoon, they are in a plane crash in Peru.

Surviving, and wondering how, the two find they are engulfed by jungle. So they build a raft, of only 4 logs and head down the river, hoping for civilization.

But what they find is anything but civilization!

As their raft begins to come apart in piranha and caiman waters, they must choose whether to live or die.

They choose to live.

This is a book you simply cannot put down! I waited until I had a day where I could put all day into reading it. And I wasn't disappointed! This true story leaves you wondering what you would do if you were in these same straits?

Just what would you do?

It is amazing what the human body can put itself through when left with the decision to live or die!

I can't praise the author enough. Well written. Characters are brought to life. And you are literally there as they face each challenge (and there are many!).

I give this book five stars,

a big thumbs up,

and my recommendation for a great read!

You can purchase the paperback here. The cost is $10.95 plus shipping and handling. You will definitely want to add this one to your library! Sorry, no Kindle version available.

75 gorgeous looking recipes for a variety of salads! And boy do I love salads!

Being vegan, I eat a lot of salads. Especially protein covered salads, and this recipe book has that covered!

It also has that unique 'Yum' factor going for it! Can't deny I'm going to try every single salad in here, minus any meat or dairy (I'll try to use vegan substitutes!)

I especially like the way the author has intermingled ingredients I would never have thought to mix together! Like pomegranate and onions! Wow! I can't wait to try that one! Or a fig and arugula salad? Sounds yummy, right? How about crisp iceberg, radish and creamy poppy seed dressing. Simple and yet, makes my mouth water thinking about it! And let's mix u melons with cukes! Cover it with an avocado cream! Or what do you think of Little Gem lettuce and cilantro with a watermelon vinaigrette? And my favorite? Roasted eggplant with cilantro vinaigrette!

75 recipes! Can't wait to get started!

Pond River Ocean Rain by Charles Lattimore Howard

Pond River Ocean Rain
by
Charles Lattimore Howard
Copyright © 2016 Abingdon Press
ISBN 978-1-5018-3103-4
The United Methodist Publishing House

How we handle the storms of life says everything about our faith. Howard puts those tests to trial by calling them 'Pond, River, Ocean Rain'.

He describes the 'Pond' as allowing the feel of Living Water to wash over us while we contemplate the stillness. 'River' is described as full trust in God's Will. The 'Ocean' he states is as peace within mystery (we've all been there! Out of our depths!) And 'Rain' as the movement of God's relentless love for us.

A beautifully written, easy to understand book that reveal the wonderful abundant life we can enjoy, if we only jump into the water and allow God's will to carry us where He leads.

I give this book Five Stars.

A big Thumbs Up.

And I personally Recommend it!

A beautifully written story. Alyan tells a heart wrenching story of love and loss during war. The immigration of this multi-generational family from around 1950 to present day, and the changes this family must endure. A wonderful story that takes many twists and turns.

Well written, Aylan is a great storyteller that will touch your heart, and bring you insight into political and terror immigration. Prepare to cry, to laugh, and to feel the love as only a family can.

The Illusionist's Apprentice by Kristy Cambron

The Illusionist's Apprentice

Kristy Cambron

Thomas Nelson Publisher
Advance Reader's Uncorrected Proof

Houdini's former apprentice, Wren, finds herself in a hurried race to beat the clock. Or is the killer?

Wren knows Houdini's secrets. And someone is out to get them. Someone willing to kill to get them. And Wren knows who it is.

Wren, well known in vaudeville, is an eccentric, wealthy woman in 1926. First she is in vaudeville, and second she wears "gentlemanly" clothing. She is definitely not the flapper irl of the roaring twenties!

Houdini's opinion of a known spiritualist wasn't good. Houdini was certain he was a fraud. When a public illusion goes wrong, and Houdini's foe is charged with murder, Wren finds herself defending the man, as she must now work with the newly formed FBI to find the real killer!

A charged, page turner, that will keep you up all night to read!

Cambron, an established author, outdoes herself in this fast paced, who-done-it.

I rate this book with Five Stars.

I give it a big Thumbs Up.

And I personally recommend it.

You can find the book HERE. It is available in Kindle ($8.99), Hardback ($28.49) and Paperback (8.79).

(Advanced Reader's Copy: Uncorrected Proof)

Jacey had no idea what was in store for her. But it was something big.

Jacey and Colin has spent three very intense days surviving a Mississippi flood. But they HAD survived. Yet Jacey went down in the water. When she came back up, she couldn't remember the last name of the man who had not only saved her physically, but for whom she was also in love with.

When chance steps in, Jacey is a bridesmaid at her friends wedding. And who should be the minister who preside over the nuptials, none other than Colin.

A mixture of emotions runs amok.

Jacey feels stirrings she's never felt before.

And God has plans that neither of the two would have dreamed up alone.

I absolutely adored this wonderful romantic novel! One minute crying. The next laughing. And the next nodding my head saying to myself, "Yep, I've been there and done that!"

McHale tells a great story, and one you won't want to miss!

I give this book Five Stars.

Fodor's Travel: Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire

Fodor's Travel: Maine, Vermont & New Hampshire
copyright © 2017 by Fodor's Travel, a division of Internet Brands, Inc.
ISBN: 978-1-101-87997-9
15th Edition

I collect Fodor's Travel books! I have since I was a teenager. I always promise myself that I will one day go to those places that I love reading about! And while it's been about 12 years since I was last there, I do believe that Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire have some of the most beautiful fall foliage of any of the 48 contiguous states I've been in! Simply gorgeous! And I'd love to go again. Maybe next fall!

From the first pages, which do, indeed, feature photographs of fall foliage, we see the Top Reasons To Go:
* Fall Foliage
* Regional Food (You haven't eaten until you've eaten fresh caught Maine lobster!)
* Outdoor Fun ( Hiking, boating, biking, or simply taking in the views!)
* Small Towns (I love the small town greens and small taverns!)
* Fantastic Skiing (You'll have to trust the book here! I am so afraid of downhill skiing! Shushing I'm fine with!)
* The Coast (A look of the Atlantic standing high above on an overlooking cliff, and you will never think of the ocean the same again! Simply a beautiful sight! Especially when you are standing next to an ancient lighthouse! Superb!)

I can't wait to make another trip up! It's an amazing experience if you haven't been yet. And if you haven't, then grab a copy of this book. It's the ultimate guide to seeing just exactly what you think will make the perfect experience for you!

I rate this book FIVE STARS.

And I give it a BIG THUMBS UP.

With my Personal Recommendation.

You can find the book HERE. It is available in Kindle for $15.99 and in Paperback for $13.59, plus shipping and handling. Great for your Fodor's collection. Better yet as your travel guide to one of America's best kept secret places to visit!

Stars in the Grass by Ann Marie Stewart

Stars in the Grass

Published by
Shiloh Run Press
ISBN: 978-1-63409-950-9

Stewart tells a compelling story of a nine year old little girl and her family who must walk through a dark time in their life, and the struggles that comes with. The story is told through the eyes of nine-year-old Abby. And Stewart puts you right in little Abby's shoes. This is where a good storyteller, and a great storyteller are made.

Stewart is GREAT storyteller. You become little Abby. You feel her grief and pain, her heartache.

This is a wonderful book that allows you to discover with sensitivity the different paths that each of Abby's family members will take. The spiritual aspect of the story. And most importantly, the faith that it will take to see them all through heartbreak.

With faith in God, and allowing Him to work in their lives, they will come through their tragedy. Changed, it's true. But they will survive, and without losing hope and their trust in the Almighty.

I rate this book FIVE STARS.

I give it a BIG THUMBS UP!

And I give my personal RECOMMENDATION.
