I was a bit underwhelmed by this book, available only at Amazon and for Kindle. Recipes were kind of out there for me. I enjoy simply flavors that I can distinguish fairly easy, however, some of these were too far-fetched for me and my pallet.

One that I cannot begin to wrap my mind around was Baked Sweet Potato Chips with Creamy Date Caramel Dip". Now I can understand the sweet potato chips (which I love!), but a caramel made from dates just doesn't do it for me. (It's like saying "Here, won't you try my prune and fish kabobs?" Or the current commercial on TV which mention the unheard of, but famous, "beetloaf". Gag!)

And there's the smoothie recipe made from beets and berries. Separate I love both. However, neither make me want the flavor both at the same time! My stomach churns just thinking of this one!

Thankfully this was a very short book, and could be read in a quick hour. I saw nothing I wanted to make right away, although in time I will try one or two of the better sounding recipes, to be sure.

At this I do recommend you get your copy now, while they are still free for the Kindle, as no other media is offered. You may find the 25 recipes worth trying!

125 recipes for your family that includes main dishes and side dishes. Most are for 350 - calories or less. So you can thoroughly enjoy them even when diet restricted! But even if you're not on a diet, they are packed full of flavor and deliciousness!

I tried the Zucchini Taco Boats. They were so good! Even my hubby couldn't tell that they were as good as they were good for you!

Recipes are well written, and include dietary information, including portion size and calories.  Love that! Recipes are easy to follow. Ingredients were readily available. Instructions were simple, using American measuring system. (A big bonus for me, as I am lost with the metric system!)

I am anxious to try more of these great recipes! I highly endorse and recommend this book! And I give it:

This cookbook will have you salivating at the word go! I was raised on the fringes of German cooking. Mom's Dad was second-generation American from a German immigrant. His wife, my grandmother, was also raised second-generation from the Alsace Region, which is also a great French/German region with similar foods.

In my early adulthood, I spent some time in Europe, living mainly in Germany. I was even more drawn to their cooking! Heavy at times, it still embarks a sense of home and peace, tranquility to me, pulling me back in time to an era before I was even thought of.

It was with great enjoyment I opened this cookbook on my Kindle. Sumptuous kuchen and brotchen recipes were assailing me. I could remember my Oma's kitchen smelling so wonderful!

Spicy pfeffernuse was my first recipe tried. My husband wasn't real thrilled with that. It's sweet, but not as sweet as say an American cookie. But I was smitten with all of the recipe's I was going to try! I haven't tried them all, yet, but I will eventually! They all look amazing!

I give this book my highest recommendations! Recipes are easy to follow. Ingredients are not too hard to find (I purchased everything I needed from our local Kroger grocery store.

Fragments of Isabella - by Isabella Leitner

Open Road Integrated Media, Inc. (NY, NY)

This is a fairly short novel(ette) that can be easily read in about 90-minutes to 2-hours.

Like many of the authors who have survived the Holocaust, Isabella's story was thrown back into her face, and this great writer was accused of falsifying her own history. Isabella's youth was spent, was killed in Auschwitz, along with many family members.

But she lived. Along with two of her sisters, living day to day with the mantra "I will live, I will live!" She starved. She froze. And Germans used her poor body as a slave to their machinations.

If you want to know another story from the Holocaust, Isabella's is one to read. On the same level as the Anne Frank Diaries, Isabella's story will outrage you, bring you to tears, and at times make you smile on the young girl as she simply tries to survive for her sisters.

I heartily recommend this book. I give it

Personal Goals

Personal Goals

In looking back over my goals and what I have accomplished, I see that my best recorded year for the number of books read was in 2010 and I had read 86 books. The last few years have slacked off as I went to work full time, was sick, or injured.

I am determined to make 2019 my best year ever! So my personal goal for 2019 is to read 100 books. That's 8.33 books a month. So I'm a little behind with only 5-1/2 in so far! I need to read 2-1/2 to make for January, and another 8.33 for February! Yikes!

  YIKES!

I know I can do this! Cheer me on guys! A little less TV and computer play and I know I can do this! Yay!

Have you made a goal for this year? If not, you don't have to make a big goal like I have, but one with which you can be comfortable. If you didn't read any books last year, make this the year you push yourself to reading one or two.

And if you don't know what to read, check out some online suggestions. Goodreads and LibraryThing are great places to read some reviews and choose your books to read.

So you say you can't afford to buy a book? Check out many of the free websites that offer free books for your Kindle, Nook, tablet or computer. A lot, but certainly not all, of my books are electronic books. I love it! My Kindle will bookmark my last page read and I can leave a book at any time and can go back to my last spot. Love that! Also, my already overflowing bookcases don't need any further space! That's not to say I don't still purchase a lot of study books in reality and not virtual! But electronic books are a great way to save space, and money!

So, get out there, set a goal, and get started! With free books, there's no excuse!

Lake Union Publishing, Seattle, WA
ISBN 9781503900820 (Hardcover)
305 Pages

This was a great read! Very reminiscent of the Agatha Christy murder mysteries. You won't want to put it down!

I sat down with a cup of my favorite chamomile and a couple of tinned biscuits and then couldn't put the book down until I'd finished reading it! Which turned out to be a good thing that I'd come prepared with tea and cookies as it was several hours, and they sustained me!

This book is filled with multiple plots, and stories within stories.

The main character is multi-faceted as she delves deeply into not only her own past, but that of her great-grandparents as well.

Let's just say as the plot thickens, the story makes many a twist and turn. You'll have to be on your toes to know the who and what did it in this great novel!

Get on to Wendy Webb's style of writing. I can't get enough of it! Look for more great Wendy Webb reviews to come!
