I purchased this book thinking it might be a fun read just before Thanksgiving. And I wasn't disappointed! A wonderful telling of the events leading up to the Pilgrims' leaving Europe, and their voyage to this country, as well as the struggling first year in America.
Well written, with historical facts from those gentlemen who kept diaries and journals at the time, and extrapolations of what the events might have been like. I found the work entertaining, and brought to light some things I had never heard of before regarding this group of individuals who settled in New England.
Flemings' work is excellent for readers of all ages. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to appreciate the Thanksgiving season a bit more.
